Tynecca Lynch, PhD, LCSW

Tynecca Lynch, PhD, LCSW, is an assistant professor at Appalacian State. She has spent much of her career in clinical practice, treating adult men and women in both rural and urban communities. Dr. Lynch has worked across vast settings from the housing system in New York City, to rural hospice care in North Carolina. She is currently licensed in North Carolina and serves as a clinical supervisor and mentor.

Dr. Lynch joined the Social Work Department faculty full-time, January 2020; she has since taught across the social work curriculum with a more recent focus in macro practice. Previous research has been centered around understanding the relationship between spirituality and mental health. Current area of research focus is understanding the effects of systemic racism on Black mental health. Her on-going projects focus on social work curriculum that adequately prepare social workers for practice in minority communities.
