Congratulations to Social Work faculty member, Dr. Leah Hamilton who was recently appointed as a Senior Research Fellow for the Jain Family Institute and Primary Investigator for the Hudson Up basic income pilot in Hudson, NY. A collaboration between local nonprofits and Andrew Yang’s Humanity Forward Foundation, the project will provide $500 per month to 25 participants for five years. Additionally, Leah was one of five selected speakers for the 2021 Society for Social Work and Research conference’s “Brief and Brilliant” series, a TED style event. The title of her talk is “Why Social Workers Must Champion a Universal Basic Income.”
