Over the spring semester students in Kyndal Auten's Social Work Practice with Groups course joined together to complete a project to implement Narcan Interventions across campus.
The group sought approval from our BCHS Dean and SW Department Chair, completed trainings by End Overdose and ASU's Wellness and Prevention Services, developed ways to gain donations, and finally completed interventions through tabling two separate days on Sanford Mall to disperse the materials.
During the tabling, the group was not only able to distribute free boxes of Narcan and fentanyl testing strips, but also had the opportunity to administer brief trainings on how to use the materials as well as connecting the students that visited to multiple resources. The group found that their project was well received by students on campus and many were grateful to receive the materials and trainings.
Since the project ended the students have looked into starting an End Overdose chapter at ASU which would be the first chapter of the organization in North Carolina.
Awesome work Myia, Allison, Lex, Cameo, Jake, Kaysha, Kaitlyn, Giselle, and Perla!
