The Society for Social Work and Research held their annual conference in Washington D.C. the week of January 10-14, 2024.
Several of our faculty attend including our Department Chair, Dr. Mark Trahan, Dr. Denise Levy, Dr. Leah Hamilton, and Dr. Pete Fawson attended. One of our current MSW students accompanied Dr. Fawson to present their research on practicioner wisdom, "Exploring Practicioner Wisdom: The Need for Wisdom Among Social Work Students" (Authors: Pete Fawson, Jack M.C. Kwong, and Dennis Dillon).
Dennis enjoyed his experience presenting their research and shared these words, "My time at the Society for Social Work and Research conference was very rewarding and fruitful. I had the fortune to presentresearch with Dr. Pete R. Fawson, our study on Practitioner Wisdom. It was amazing to see so many hard working and devoted social workers under one roof. Hearing about the different projects, techniques, and passions that social workers around the world are pursuing was exciting and affirming of the profession. The conference was a delightful reminder that the hard days give way to the good days".
