Graduate Student Social Work Association (GSSWA)

The Graduate Student Social Work Association is a unique club in the social work department in that it is specifically for MSW students.  Student representatives from the second and first-year cohorts, as well as those in the advanced standing track, lead the club and plan club events.  With the unique challenges graduate school presents it is comforting to know that there is a supportive community within the social work department for master’s students.

GSSWA offers opportunities for community building through social events and professional development by hosting special interest speakers and events within the department.  In addition to these main functions, the GSSWA plans the graduation ceremony for second-year masters students.  All MSW students within the social work department are welcome to join the club if they would like to take part in planning events, however, all MSW students are encouraged to participate in the activities hosted by the GSSWA.  The club was organized and received official university club status in 2013 under the leadership of Ms. Mary Cantrell, the first club president.
