Biography:  Dr. Sinha joined the Department of Social Work in 2023. Her academic career spans 16 years. She served for 11 years as an Assistant Professor (2012-2018) and Tenured Associate Professor (2018-2023) at Marywood University’s School of Social Work MSW Program. Additionally, she taught as an adjunct professor at University of South Carolina’s College of Social Work for five years while completing her doctorate. Prior to her academic appointment, Dr. Sinha worked with several non-profit organizations addressing the issues of violence against women, HIV/AIDS prevention, and education amongst socially and economically marginalized communities in India. Dr. Sinha’s research and scholarship, informed by the lens of intersectionality and critical ethnographic methodologies, have focused on a wide range of global issues of HIV/AIDS, sex work, and human trafficking. She has presented her work at national and international conferences and published her findings in various high impact interdisciplinary journals such as Sexuality & Culture, Culture, Health, & Sexuality, Qualitative Health Research, Affilia: Feminist Inquiry in Social Work, Sexuality Research and Social Policy, and Journal of Gender Studies. She is a Fahs-beck Scholar and a recipient of the 2018 Michael H. Agar Lively Science Award- an award given annually by the Qualitative Health Research journal to the most innovative applied research article. Dr. Sinha has an extensive teaching background in various social work graduate-level core courses, including advanced social work practice with individuals, social welfare policy, global perspective in social, work, ethical issues in social work practice and leadership in Health and Human Service Organizations. Furthermore, Dr. Sinha serves as a Consulting Editor of Affilia: A Feminist Inquiry in Social Work, member of the CSWE’s Council on the Role and Status of Women (CORSW), editorial board member of Palgrave Advances in Sex Work Series.
