Biography:
Danyelle Kara, MSW, (she/her) joined the Department of Social Work at Appalachian State University as an Adjunct Instructor in 2020 and became a full-time Lecturer in 2023. Danyelle has spent the past 6 years dedicating her work and gaining extensive experience in the anti-human trafficking movement. She has experience working one on one with individuals who have experienced human trafficking through crisis intervention, case management, and trauma-informed care.
In addition, she has a breadth of experience at establishing and leading multi-disciplinary teams at the local and state level regarding human trafficking response. She has contributed to research and policy change in the anti-human trafficking movement. Danyelle co-founded an anti-human trafficking organization, The Bridge International, with the mission to bridge the gaps in services, outreach, and collaboration. She currently teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Social Work.
