I AM REQUESTING A SEAT IN A SOCIAL WORK COURSE SECTION WITH CLOSED ENROLLMENT.

(When no seat or waitlist is available.)

Instructors in the Department of Social Work are unable to give permission for students to enroll in their courses. Please do not contact instructors to make requests to enroll in their course sections.

If you are unable to register for a seat in a course or for a waitlist seat in the course, you may make a request following the instructions below using the link.

You will receive an email response to your request after it has been reviewed.

Note that some courses will require a permit or override when students do not meet some criteria for the course (such as a required prerequisite course). COURSES AVAILABLE TO SOCIAL WORK MINORS AND NON-MAJORS

The majority of Social Work courses are restricted to Social Work majors. Generally, Social Work electives are offered in particular semesters and are not offered every semester. The Google Form used to make requests will indicate which courses are available for the upcoming semester. Students may only request to enroll in those courses listed in the form. Social Work's "Foundation Courses" (SW 2010, SW 2020, SW 2615, SW 2630, and SW 3000) are available to all students. No permission is required to enroll in these courses. Students are strongly encouraged to join waitlists for these courses (if offered) when seats are not available. If a waitlist is not available then it is not possible to obtain a seat this semester. Due to the need to offer enough seats for majors, the Department of Social Work cannot guarantee seat availibility to Social Work minors to complete the minor or to students in other majors in order to complete General Education requirements or concentrations in other majors, but does try to accomodate students' participation in our five Foundation Courses whenever possible.

Course Sections

Please NOTE:

  • Campus students should enroll in course sections ending in the 100s range (101, 102, etc.).
  • Courses with a 350 designation are restricted to students participating in the Department of Social Work's distance education program only.
  • Courses with a 410 designator are reserved for University and Social Work Departmental Honors Students only. Only enroll in a 410 section if you are taking the course for Honors Credit. Students in these sections will have additional course requirements to meet in order to earn Honors credit. You will be switched out of the section if it turns out you are not taking the course for Honors credit.
